INFINITE SPACE
Michael Flomen & Richard X Zawitz

Opening reception: Friday, February 21, 2025 from 6-9pm
Exhibition through April 4, 2025

Michael Flomen photograms and Richard X Zawitz’s sculptures come together in a joint exhibition, at Show Gallery in Hollywood. The exhibition is curated by Carlos Antonio and Margot Ross. This exhibition integrates art, furniture, and objects, and the synergy between those genres. It also invites the viewers to experience the transformative power of the natural world, inspiring a deeper connection to the environment and art.

Flomen’s photography is focused on nature and our earth, combining natural elements outside the cover of darkness. To create his photographs, he exposes photographic film and papers to the natural elements such as the bioluminescent light of fireflies, dirt, and water from natural sources. His photographs emphasize the unseen aspects of our world, evoking memories, and the invisible forces of nature.

The photograms are marked by wind, waters and in others, the bioluminescent light from a firefly. Silt from pooling waters used as paint. Geographic area like a littoral zone is a place where Flomen is interested in making work. He is inviting a collaboration with the natural elements, star and moonlight, and other natural phenomena with his photosensitive materials and his energy. Flomen is interested in the wind’s history and the memories of the natural elements and phenomena that marks his film and paper. Michael Flomen makes pictures of things we do not see but know are there.

The works on exhibition will be on view during LA Art Week at Show Gallery in Hollywood, running through April 4, 2025.

Richard Zawitz’s Tangle and Infinity sculpture series are inspired by the artistic movement he calls Curvism. Drawing from ancient design principles such as Tibetan Knots, Shodō calligraphy, vortex energy, and natural phenomena, Curvism embodies cutting-edge, innovative and timeless elements. Zawitz views Curvism as more than connected angles and curves; it represents natural phenomena like DNA, wave movements, spiraling galaxies, and our ever-expanding universe.
