Rabbit Hole by Corran Brownlee

Exhibition through June 23rd, 2022

Opening Reception Thursday, May 19th from 6-9pm with artists in attendance

Show Gallery is pleased to present Rabbit Hole, a solo exhibition by Canadian artist Corran Brownlee

According to the artist, this series looks at our vain attempts to "return to normal" and our compulsion to paint over society's problems. The more we expose these issues the more desperate we are to cover them up. It's as if we don't have time to address them because we're too busy trying to overcome the damage they've caused. No matter how much we deceive ourselves, our problems are still there festering under the surface.

For twenty years Corran Brownlee used his craft to realize the vision of other filmmakers and storytellers from fight sequence storyboards for Jackie Chan to concept images for James Bond opening titles to directing an award winning short with Keira Knightley. This is Corran’s second solo exhibition at Show Gallery and allows us to journey into his world.

Portrait of the artist

Corran Brownlee

Corran Brownlee spent his early years in Calgary, Canada before moving to London where he immersed himself in the British film industry as a storyboard artist and illustrator. After 13 years in London and a year in New York working as a senior creative for a visual effects company, Corran returned to Calgary, where he now lives and works. His work continues to harbor the aesthetic he developed in London, stripped back images in black and white, haunting snapshots of untold narratives.

Throughout his career Corran has explored different mediums including film, mixed media, and is now focusing primarily on charcoal. His work is part of private and corporate collections in Europe, the United States, and Canada.
